My interests

Outside of work, creativity plays an important part in my life. Whether it’s consuming art I find interesting or personally provocative, or bringing my own ideas to life, I find exposure to creative thought vital to my restless mind.

Texture

As a musician, rhythm and melody are as important as they should be, but my main interest here is the texture of sound (including and beyond that made by conventional instruments). Although not particularly enamoured by orchestral music, it is the fabric of tones woven together that makes my ears prick. Sound and music have fed into all my experiential work, from using it as a gimmick to elevating an emotional response desired at a particular time. Although sound is limited in terms of Digital Marketing, I hope to draw from my ideas and what I have learned in this area.

In another interest outside the ordinary, I have been experimenting with flavours and methodology in the creation of session-strength meads, which is very easy to make. Despite this, there are endless possibilities of weaving flavours, and I love the process of concocting and trying out ideas. The failure or success of these ideas is extremely instructive and cathartic. Here, as with music, the small details that give life to the experience of consumption are what excites me the most.

Forgotten Detail

A far less active interest is in taking pictures when out and about. Inspired by the photographic interest of my partner, here I enjoy experiencing long-forgotten or ignored views. This translates as the stories in the results of long-gone human action, or in nature.

With all these interests, what excites me the most is finding treasures new to me and being able to articulate those that may seem strange so that my excitement can be shared.

Boundless Posibility

In terms of consuming art, the boundless possibilities of speculative fiction and how that might intertwine with the real world fascinates me. I find such ideas endlessly stimulating and am glad to read a new book, film, or TV show that might feed my own creativity.
